In light of the first official confirmed COVID-19 case on St. Maarten, who is currently in home isolation, the SMMC Outbreak Management Team (OMT) has decided to increase the mitigating efforts in possible exposure to the virus and to keep SMMC’s care capacity at the highest level in case of confirmed COVID-19 case(s) needing admittance to SMMC.

SMMC recently provided a train-the-trainer course to healthcare professionals from local healthcare agencies including the Collective Prevention Services, the Department of Public Health, Port of St. Maarten, Princess Juliana International Airport, the Department of Immigration and Ambulance Services on procedures and precautions pertinent to COVID-19, commonly known as the Corona Virus.

CAY HILL:  St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) will be present at the Emigratiebeurs (Emigration Fair) in Houten, The Netherlands on February 8th and 9th, 2020. SMMC’s presence at the fair is part of their ongoing efforts to recruit medical and non-medical healthcare professionals to fill current vacancies at SMMC and future vacancies at St. Maarten General Hospital (SMGH).

Management and Staff of St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) recently embarked on a collective fitness journey by way of SMMC On the Move, SMMC’s new employee health and fitness initiative.

SMMC recently welcomed a new permanent Ophthalmologist, Dr. Benny Oosterhof.
