Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Category High Care: Patients can be visited for 10 minutes at a time. The visit must be coordinated by the patient’s contact person. Category Medium and Low Care: 10:00am - 10:20am 2:00pm - 2:20pm 8:00pm - 8:20pm
Visiting patients outside the scheduled visiting hours is upon request and at the discretion of the unit supervisor. For patients, undergoing surgery, an exception is made for the immediate family members to visit them prior to and after surgery. Special permission to stay with a seriously ill patient may be requested. In this particular situation one (1) visitor at a time is allowed at the bedside. If you are visiting a private room, also called a 1st class room, are the parent of a newborn or have a child admitted at the Pediatric Ward, please identify yourself to the Security Guard who will allow you to visit the patient outside of regular visiting hours.
An “extra” visitor’s card can be issued to a patient’s relative who may have the need to visit a patient in general and semi private rooms outside of regular visiting hours. On this card a nurse and ward supervisor will specify a time when the patient can be visited, only by the family member or support person of the patient whose name would be written on the card. Patients would be informed if eligible for this privilege.
The spouse of a patient in a private room, or parent of a child on the pediatric ward can choose to stay overnight and a cot is provided when this is available. When rooming in please observe the following guidelines:
Cellular phones are allowed. However the phone must be turned off from 9pm to 7am.
Radios with ear phones are preferred. Otherwise the sound must be kept low as possible and between 9:00pm and 7:00am all radios must be turned off.
The television set is turned off at 10pm. For special events only, the TV set will be kept on for a specific period of time at the discretion of the nurse in charge.
The room lighting is turned off at 10pm. However, the nurse may turn it off earlier if the situation warrants such.
You can pay your bill by coming to our hospital and settling directly by one of our cashiers or by bank transfer directly from your account to ours. We accept cash, check, and money order and honor the following credit/debit cards: Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Diners Club, Kompa Leon and Maestro.
Patient Financial services representatives are glad to help you over the phone or personally with any questions or concerns you may have about your bill. Hours of operation: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The office can be reached at telephone number 543-1111 ext. 1322.
You may receive more than one bill for the same hospital stay. In addition to the bill from SMMC, you may also get a bill from your doctor, as well as other physicians, physician consultants or physical therapists not employed by SMMC. These physicians bill separately for their services. Your bill from SMMC does not include charges for laboratory services; you will receive a bill directly from them.
Your hospital bill includes your daily service charges; payment for your room and nursing care, radiology and other diagnostic tests, medications, use of the OR and other related services. It also includes charges from our staff surgeon and anesthetist. Additional charges may include personalized requests, such as room class upgrades, TV and remote rental etc.
Your deposit payment ensures to coverage of your medical bills. Other than your room rate, your deposit ensures payment for other medical and service charges. If your hospital stay does not exceed the deposit made you can receive a refund. This is issued within two weeks of your discharge
Yes. You can do so by the cashiers at the Admissions Department.
Depending on the conditions set forth by your insurance provider, you will be staying in a private, semi private or open-ward room. You can however, make an additional payment to upgrade your accommodations. Preferably this needs to be pre-arranged before your actual admission. This can be done at the Admissions Department.
Yes. Your insurance provider or family member can choose to fill out a credit card authorization form of SMMC. We will charge the card and send the cardholder a receipt.
Private rooms, or first class rooms, are assigned only to one patient. Your partner or a support person is allowed to room in with you if you have a private room.
Semi-private rooms, or second class rooms, are assigned to two patients at a time.
Open-ward rooms, or third class rooms, are assigned to maximum five patients at a time.
Yes. Wireless Internet connection is available for patients who have laptop computers.
