At our Oncology Clinic, we provide care for patients with cancer from diagnosis through to treatment and beyond. We work with patients and their families to provide the most suitable care with the most favorable outcome aimed toward treating and managing cancer and cancer-related symptoms.
We recently opened our state of the art IV Therapy Suite where we provide chemotherapy and other intravenous treatments in a warm, healing and private environment by our specialized IV Therapy and Chemotherapy nurses, overseen by the treating Oncologist.

Dr. C.J. van Groeningen is a renowned internal medicine specialist and oncologist from the Netherlands. He completed his medical degree at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 1978, followed by specialized training in Internal Medicine, which he completed in 1983.
He further specialized in Medical Oncology, officially registering in this field in 1993. Dr. van Groeningen earned his Ph.D. in 1991 under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. H.M. Pinedo, marking a significant milestone in his academic career. He worked at the Vrije Universiteit Medical Center’s Department of Medical Oncology from 1983 to 2007, where he was a leading internist-oncologist and chef de Clinique.
Meanwhile he also did laboratory research in the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Bethesda, USA from 1992-1993. He then continued his practice at Amstelland Hospital in Amstelveen until his retirement in 2018.
Even after retirement, Dr. van Groeningen remains active in the field, having taken on several short-term assignments at Dr. Horacio E. Oduber Hospital in Aruba, Fundashon Mariadal on Bonaire and currently at the St. Maarten Medical Center as a rotational medical oncologist. He is widely respected for his dedication to patient care.
Dr. A. Roelof (Roel) Jonkhoff, MD, PhD, is born in the Netherlands.
Educated in Internal Medicine (board registration 1990) and Hemato-Oncology at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam. He worked for 21 years in the VUmc until 2007. The subject of his PhD thesis was on radio-targeted therapy in Lymphomas (67-Gallium). For several years, he worked at the Dutch Association of Comprehensive Cancer Center Amsterdam (IKA/IKNL), Cochrane Center (UvA, Amsterdam) and was the Manager Director of the establishment of the JACIE stem cell transplant program (University of Utrecht).
Subsequently, he started in private practice at the BovenIJ-ziekenhuis in Amsterdam-Noord. Internal Medicine and Hemato-Oncology.
From 2011 - 2019, he was the head of the Oncology Department at the Horacio Oduber Hospital (Aruba).
In 2019, he returned to the Netherlands and worked as an Hemato-Oncologist in the Ikazia Hospital (Rotterdam) and BovenIJ-ziekenhuis (Amsterdam).
From 2022 he started to work at SMMC as a rotational specialist.
