Over the past several weeks, staff of St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) had the opportunity to vote for their favorite St. Maarten General Hospital (SMGH) logo and the most popular version was revealed during a well-attended event held at the open-air patio area of SMMC on Friday January 15, 2021.

SMMC’s Medical Director and Chairman of the Outbreak Management Team (OMT), Dr. Felix Holiday and SMMC’s Surgeon Dr. Luc Mercelina recently presented Mrs. Asha Stevens-Mohabier and staff of the Asha Stevens Hillside Christian School with a token of appreciation for their warm cooperation given during the construction of SMMC’s Auxiliary Care Facility (ACF).

On Tuesday October 13, 2020 SMMC’s Outbreak Management Team (OMT) announced that SMMC’s Auxiliary Care Facility (ACF), located at the basketball court at Raoul Illidge Sports Complex opposite SMMC, has recently been given the all clear and is now in full operation.As a result of the clearance given, the ACF can now be used as a specialized care facility and in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, SMMC has transferred all its regular COVID care to the ACF. In an effort to weather any possible storms, St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) has made arrangements for its COVID care facilities (the Mobile Medical Pavilion and the ICU tent) to be made more storm resilient.
