The Dutch Caribbean islands have been experiencing a severe shortage of specialized nurses for the acute care units since the start of the COVID pandemic and the rapid increase in patients with the disease. Amsterdam UMC’s training institute, VUmc Academy, responded quickly to the crisis in cooperation with the hospitals on the islands, which together form the Dutch Caribbean Hospital Alliance (DCHA U.A. i.o).

In light of government’s relaxation of public masking regulations, St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) kindly reminds the public that the hospital’s universal masking policy remains in effect.

~Patients now allowed one visitor per day~

SMMC is pleased with the latest pouring of the next section of St. Maarten General Hospital (SMGH)’s basement floor, which was successfully completed on Wednesday February 23, 2022.

St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC)’s general contractor will continue with pouring the next section of the basement floor of the St. Maarten General Hospital (SMGH) on Tuesday afternoon (February 22, 2022).
