CAY HILL: St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) recently finalized one of its open tenders with the signing of the contract for the delivery of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) equipment and an Access Control System to expand and replace the current installation in place at the hospital.
The World Bank funded project consists of the delivery of additional CCTV equipment to expand the current cameras and the purchase of a new Access Control System which will replace the current system being used at the SMMC building and Care Complex.
SMMC’s Project Manager, Ingeborg Verwoerdt, stated: “The replacement of the Access Control System and expansion of CCTV sets will allow for improved monitoring of certain areas and will contribute to the overall safety of patients and staff”.
Verwoerdt continued: “After a thorough evaluation by SMMC’s Procurement Committee of the in total 9 received bids, the contract was awarded to Roof Mechanics & Structures B.V. The required cabling will be installed over the next few weeks and estimates that the installation of all components can start per mid-June”.

SMMC has launched a special unit that will oversee all procurement in relation to the World Bank projects which is called the “Project Management Unit (PMU)”, which will keep interested companies updated when projects come up for tender and will able to send them the tender documents directly.
