SMMC Pediatric nurses attend International Neonatology Conference

Two pediatric nurses from St. Maarten Medical Center recently attended the 43rd Annual International Neonatology Conference in Miami Beach, Florida.  Nurse Corazon Landicho and Nurse Carina Celestijn spent three days learning about the latest pediatric resources, innovations, and advances in respiratory care.

The trip was made possible by the sponsorship of the Nestle Company, which provided Nurse Landicho and Nurse Celestijn with the all-expenses-paid trip to attend the conference. The Miami Neonatology conference is the leading place for pediatric health care professionals to come together and share their passion for the health of all children.

The conference provided pediatric educational opportunities in a variety of formats and topic areas. Pediatric nurses were brought up to date with recent advancements in pediatrics nursing practice through interactive, hands-on workshops and plenary sessions.

Excerpt from Nestle:

Nestle has a strong commitment to the promotion of breastfeeding, and also supporting the Health Care Professionals in improving patient care and outcomes across the Caribbean Region. We were happy to sponsor Nurse Landicho and Nurse Celestijn from St. Maarten to attend the Miami Neonatology Conference.  This conference focused on the latest in research and education in Paediatrics and allowed the nurses the opportunity to further develop their knowledge in Paediatric care, as well as network with professionals from across all regions, including the Caribbean. This will certainly be an asset to their ongoing professional development as a Health Care Professional in Paediatrics.

Nestlé has one simple purpose, to enhance the quality of life and contribute to a healthier future.  We consider our Health Care professionals our partners in fulfilling our purpose and will continue to support their ongoing education to their personal benefit and the benefit of all of their patients.
