In light of the rise in active cases of COVID-19, the current number of admissions of COVID patients and the prevalence of the highly contagious delta variant, St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) is extending its earlier announced postponement of all non-urgent and elective admissions to the Medical/Surgical Department for the time being.

CAY HILL: With the current increase in COVID-19 infections in the community and the consequent hospitalizations (12 as of today), St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) is seeing that the vast majority of persons admitted to the hospital needing COVID care are unvaccinated.

In light of the rise in active cases of COVID-19 and the prevalence of the highly contagious delta variant, St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) has postponed all non-urgent and elective admissions to the Medical/Surgical Department effective immediately. Patients whose appointments have been postponed will be contacted by the hospital ahead of their scheduled appointment date and time.
