World Breastfeeding Week is identified annually August 1st – 7th. Although World Breastfeeding Week is August 1-7, events can be celebrated May 1 – September 30, 2013. The Ob/Gyn Breastfeeding Committee at SMMC in collaboration with its stakeholders is planning activities from August 1st, 2013 – September 5th, 2013
The Theme for this year is “BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT: CLOSE TO MOTHERS", and highlights the importance of providing support to breastfeeding mothers. The five circles of support for mothers and children are: Family and Social Network, Healthcare, Workplace and Employment, Government/Legislation, and Response to Crisis or Emergency
On Thursday, August 8, 2013, the St. Maarten Medical Center will be hosting a Breastfeeding Information session in the Main Patio of our hospital. This will take place at 7:30pm. Do invite someone who may benefit from this.
