Your Profile:
As an OB/GYN Nurse at SMMC, you provide professional nursing care and coordinate patient care for our Obstetrics & Gynecology patients. You utilize established nursing processes to provide optimal care within the general guidelines and predetermined service levels of the hospital. You are enthusiastic with excellent interpersonal skills, positive, flexible, and are willing to actively contribute to the daily operations of our establishment and the ongoing development of our organization.

Requirements:
• A Registered Nurse (RN) diploma/MBO level 4 and a specialization in OB/GYN or experience in working on an OB/GYN ward;
• A diploma in maternity care and experience in labor and delivery or midwifery is an asset;
• A Basic Life Support (BLS) certification;
• Knowledge of OB/GYN work processes;
• Being patient-centered with excellent communication skills and a high level of integrity;
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of an additional language is a plus.

Tasks:
• Conduct nursing assessments of patients’ physical, psychological, and social well-being and needs upon admission and at regular intervals;
• Monitor and observe patients and provide high quality patient care, including the creation of daily plans and the evaluation and modification of planned care;
• Carry out basic and advanced technical nursing procedures within professional standards and evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by comparing patients’ responses and observable outcomes;
• Assist doctors with rounds, medical examinations, treatments, and carry out doctors’ orders to completion;
• Answer questions, guide, and instruct patients and their family to achieve favorable patient outcomes.

In addition, we also offer healthcare services to two million visitors annually. SMMC is constructing the new St. Maarten General Hospital (SMGH) to expand its services to accommodate the increased care demand of the people of St. Maarten, its visitors, and neighboring islands. The new hospital is planned to be operational in 2026.
