Your Profile: We are seeking a dedicated and all-round registered Cardiologist with specific knowledge and experience in pacemaker implantations and/or cardiac imaging. You are willing to work in a small, passionate team where providing quality care is of utmost importance in addition to maintaining the continuity of care for patients. Through your work, you actively contribute to the daily operation of our Cardiology department as well as the further development of our hospital. Your enthusiasm for your field, combined with your ability to adapt to a dynamic healthcare environment, are essential in supporting our mission to deliver exceptional patient-centered care, close to home.

You will join a team of two experienced colleagues whom are permanently employed by our organization. Additionally, you will work with a pacemaker technician who assists with implantations and conducts pacemaker and ICD checks independently. Our hospital has an ICU/CCU department and a Cardiology Outpatient clinic complete with diagnostics. Requirements: • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution; • Board-certified and registered as a Cardiologist with a valid license to practice; • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient care skills; • Flexible and adaptable, capable of managing multiple responsibilities effectively; • Proactive and solution-oriented mindset, willing to contribute to ongoing advancements in the department; • Working proficiency in English; knowledge of an additional language is a plus. Tasks: • Examine, diagnose and treat patients, providing a full spectrum of cardiology care; • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and clinical guidelines; • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care; • Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary; • Engage in the daily operations of the department, support future developments, maintain high medical standards and contribute to ongoing improvements in quality of care (protocols, guidelines, procedures etc).

With more than 425 FTEs, 28 Specialists and a capacity of 80 beds, we continuously strive to ensure safe, quality health care. Our primary service area of St. Maarten, Statia and Saba, represents a total population of approximately 60.000 people, constituting a multi-cultural mix with more than 100 different nationalities. In addition, we also offer healthcare services to two million visitors annually. SMMC is constructing the new St. Maarten General Hospital (SMGH) to expand its services to accommodate the increased care demand of the people of St. Maarten, its visitors, and neighboring islands. The new hospital is planned to be operational in 2026.
