Comments, suggestions and complaints

If you have any comments, suggestions or complaints about any aspect of our service or regarding your care or experience at SMMC, please feel free to speak with a member of the staff in the department or the ward supervisor and they will attempt to resolve things as quickly as possible. We welcome your views on our services to help us meet the your needs.

Complaint Procedure
We do our utmost to meet the patient’s need. Even though we strive for excellence we must not lose sight of the fact that errors are inevitable in any hospital.

In the first instance of having experienced dissatisfaction, we advise that you speak directly to the individual causing your discontent, or their supervisor. You may also wish to express your dissatisfaction to our Complaints Officer. If you are not satisfied with the way in which your complaint was handled you can fill out the form on the link below. Your complaint will then be directed to the Complaint Committee. The Complaint Committee is an independent committee that consists partly of hospital employees and external members. It is set up to handle the complaints of patients who have received services from the St. Maarten Medical Center and the White and Yellow Cross. The complaint committee will review your complaint and make a recommendation.

If the situation warrants such, your complaint can be further directed to the Inspectorate of Health on St. Maarten.
